One of the cool things about this piece of software is that you can capture video directly from various input sources. I have an old Samsung SC-D363 vid camera with some old videos of my kids that I needed to "digitize". Being that it had a MiniDV connector, I was able to use Kino to capture the video and also to control my camera. This FREE piece of software made me a very happy man.

I moseyed on over to Avast! website to download their offering. You'll have to click on their All Products and Special Offers link. Apparently the Linux version isn't too popular. I wonder why? :-) Or you can just click here. Download size was 28 megs.

This antivirus suite has been around a while. If you google around you'll see many good and bad reviews. I'm including it since it does run under Linux also.
Head over to their site and download their latest stable version which is 0.97.4 at the time of this blog and 47 megs in size.
Decompress..and COMPILE.. Yes, we're going to have to do a few extra steps to make this happen.
